About LY Soknay

Ms. Ly Soknay is an experienced Chemistry Lecturer with a strong foundation in both core chemistry and pedagogical methods. She currently lectures at the Phnom Penh Teacher Education College (PTEC).

Her primary focus is chemistry education- instructs student-teachers in core chemistry disciplines, including General Chemistry, Experimental Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry. Furthermore, she assists in the design of lesson plans and teaching aids, emphasizing student-centered methodologies such as Inquiry-Based Learning (IBL), the 5E Instructional Model, and Problem-Based Learning.

At PTEC, she teaches and supervises student teachers. she leads student teachers through their practicum and supervises the action research projects of fourth-year student-teachers. Her research interests include student teacher perception of understanding Inquiry based learning,  Defining the self-directed learning levels. Her has also worked on integrating the Claim–Evidence–Reasoning (CER) framework and alternative assessment strategies into chemistry teaching.

Ms. Soknay is committed to enhancing the quality of teacher education by providing minds-on and hands-on practice. Her goal is to equip future educators with the competencies required for effective, innovative, and modern classroom practice.
