About Chanphirun SAM

He is currently Deputy Director and Associate Professor at Phnom Penh Teacher Education College and has been appointed by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport as an education specialist in educational policy and planning. In his current role, he has extensive experience in teacher education and development, particularly in curriculum development, teacher capacity building, and institutional development. Dr. Sam has published widely in local and international journals and serves as Editor-in-Chief of an academic journal in Cambodia, as well as a reviewer for several scholarly publications. His research focuses on teacher professional identity, alongside broader interests in educational policy and planning, basic and higher education, digital education, and institutional governance.

Dr. Chanphirun Sam holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), a Master’s degree from Hiroshima University, Japan, and a PhD from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, the Netherlands. He was also an international research fellow at Griffith University, Australia. His academic background reflects a strong foundation in education, shaped by diverse international study and research experiences.
