About SOMALIDA TANN
Mrs. Tann Somalida is a Chemistry Lecturer at the Faculty of Science Education, Phnom Penh Teacher Education College (PTEC), where she has been serving since September 2020. She is dedicated to preparing future teachers through innovative, student-centered, and competency-based approaches in science education. Her work includes curriculum development, instructional material design, and STEM education initiatives. Before joining PTEC, she worked as a Chemistry Teacher at the Hun Sen Sandan High School in Kampong Thom Province from 2016 to 2019, where she developed strong teaching expertise and a passion for engaging students.
She holds a Bachelor of Education in Chemistry (2015) and a Certificate of Teacher with Higher Education (2016) from the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP). She later earned a Master of Education in Mentoring from the National Institute of Education (NIE) in 2020, a Master of Science in Chemistry (2022), and a Bachelor of Education in School-Based Management (2022).
Mrs. Tann Somalida is committed to continuous professional development at both national and international levels. She has participated in a STEM Education program at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore (2023), attended the Pure and Applied Chemistry International Conference (PACCON 2023) in Thailand, and completed the “Introduction to AI Education” course in Malaysia (2025). She also contributes to teacher education development projects in Japan. In addition, she serves as the Deputy Executive Director of the Cambodian Chemistry Society (CCS) and is a STEM Ambassador, actively mentoring students and supporting educational initiatives. Her professional interests include STEM integration, competency-based education, digital learning, and innovative teaching strategies to enhance the quality of education in Cambodia.
