About PHAL Somachita
Somachita Phal has been working as a Teacher Trainer at Phnom Penh Teacher Education College (PTEC) since 2024 and has extensive experience as a Physics Teacher in both public normal and New Generation Schools in Cambodia. She has contributed actively to science education, teacher professional development, and instructional improvement through teaching, curriculum implementation, and educational leadership practices. Her professional responsibilities include teacher training, classroom instruction, educational mentoring, and supporting the improvement of teaching and learning quality in Cambodian schools.
Somachita Phal graduated with a Master of Education in Educational Administration from Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand, in 2023. Her master’s thesis focused on “The Effect of Principals’ Instructional Leadership on the 21st Century Teaching Competencies as Perceived by Teachers in New Generation Schools in Cambodia.” She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in International Studies (International Economics) from the Royal University of Phnom Penh in 2017, a Bachelor of Science in Physics from the Royal University of Phnom Penh in 2015, and a Higher Education Teaching Degree in Physics from the National Institute of Education, Cambodia, in 2016.
She has experiences working as a Physics Teacher in several educational institutions, including Preah Sisowath High School and Hun Sen Peam Chikang High School under the New Generation School program. In addition, she served as an Exchange Teacher under the Korea–Cambodia Teacher Exchange Programme in the Republic of Korea in 2024. Through these professional experiences, she has developed strong expertise in science teaching, student-centered learning, classroom management, and educational leadership.
Her research interest focuses on educational leadership, instructional leadership, teacher competencies, curriculum development, teacher professional development, and quality improvement in Cambodia education. One of her published research works is titled “Principals’ Instructional Leadership Affecting Teachers’ Teaching Competencies among Schools in Cambodia,” published in the Proceedings of the 6th International Conference on Education 2023: “Cultivating Sustainable and Equitable Education for All” in Pattani, Thailand.
She strongly believes that education should produce students who are knowledgeable, disciplined, respectful, and responsible global citizens while still valuing the Cambodian social and cultural context. She is committed to supporting educational improvement through effective teaching, teacher training, and educational leadership in order to prepare future generations for both national and global development.
