About Sokunthea Sin
Ms. Sin Sokunthea is a mathematics educator and researcher with over a decade of experience in improving the quality of mathematics instruction in Cambodia. Currently serving as a Lecturer at the Phnom Penh Teacher Education College (PTEC), she plays a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of teachers by focusing on both content knowledge and pedagogical content knowledge. Beyond her work at PTEC, she is a recognized Core Expert for the SMILE Program (Strengthening early grade math through inclusive, level-appropriate education) in collaboration with VVOB Cambodia. In this capacity, she involves the development of training materials and mentors master trainers to ensure that early grade mathematics instruction is inclusive and effective across the nation.
Research Interests
Ms. Sin Sokunthea holds a Master of Education from Hiroshima University, Japan, where her research focused on the relationship between mathematical knowledge for teaching and teacher beliefs. She also holds a Master of Science in Technology and Information Technology from Khemarak University and a Bachelor of Educational Science in Mathematics.
