About Sokuntheary CHORN
Ms. Sokuntheary CHORN was born in 1990. She has been working as a Science Lecturer in Biology in the Department of Science, Faculty of Science Education at Phnom Penh Teacher Education College since 2022. She is responsible for a variety of tasks in lecturing biology to preservice teachers and developing science curriculum, syllabus in subject of biology, STEM education, textbooks, teaching materials, applying and guiding action research, working and supporting the attached schools' teachers, and supporting the Ministry of Education and Sport as a technical science and trainer.
Ms. CHORN graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction from Royal University of Phnom Penh in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. In addition, she also holds a professional certificate as a teacher: the Teacher with Higher Education Degree from the National Institute of Education in Phnom Penh and another Master of Science in Biological Science from Naresuan University in Thailand.
She has experience working as a science educator at upper secondary school in a program of the New Generation School and at higher education institutions for more than ten years. As an educator, she has been involved in many national and international conferences and workshops related to professional development topics, such as Digital Teachers; STEM; Intensive Training, Committing to Personal Transformation, Collective Action, and Addressing Educational Inequity; Taxonomy and Systematics; Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development; Curriculum, teaching materials, and assessment development; Mentoring Educators; and Leadership.
Her area of professional interest is applied science in the real world. She is also interested in research related to biological science, the environment, science education, curriculum innovation, teaching materials, assessment development, teaching methodologies, pedagogy, early childhood education and STEM Education. Moreover, she also has a strong passion for youth and women's development. She has been taking part in some youth and women programs in the community by making connections as an alumni member with NGOs communities: Teach For Cambodia and Harpswell Foundation, to support each other to be strong youths and women leaders in the community.
